Low Back Pain HEALTH TiPS for Patients. The ACP Clinical Guidelines Committee discusses the low value of routine imaging in patients with low back pain in an article published in February 2011 in Annals of Internal Medicine. To support ACP, the ACP Foundation developed "HEALTH TiPS: Low Back Pain" a two-sided 4"x 6" patient information card to help ACP members help their patients choose the appropriate care for low back pain.

AHRQ has released the Health Literacy Universal Precautions Toolkit. The toolkit is designed to help adult and pediatric practices ensure that systems are in place to promote better understanding by all patients, not just those you think need extra assistance. The toolkit is divided into manageable chunks so that its implementation can fit into the busy day of a practice.

The National Consumers League (NCL), founded in 1899, is America's pioneer consumer organization. NCL's mission is to protect and promote social and economic justice for consumers and workers in the United States and abroad. NCL is currently leading a multi-year national public awareness campaign to improve medication adherence. Diverse stakeholders including government agencies, adherence researchers, health care, insurance, pharmaceutical and business organizations are participating in the campaign, which will launch in spring 2011.
