The American College of Physicians (ACP) Foundation has become a national leader in convening health care stakeholders, catalyzing action and creating programs to improve the health of patients.
Through initiatives that facilitate clinician-patient communications, the ACP Foundation develops interventions that assist patients by providing them with the information they need to understand and manage their health. In partnership with the American College of Physicians and other stakeholders, the ACP Foundation:
- Develops and implements patient-centered and systems-oriented programs to improve health communication and health outcomes
- Promotes research and programs that allow patients to be active participants to understand, manage, and improve their health
- Encourages collaboration and mutual accountability among health care providers and patients
- Supports policies that promote improved patient understanding of health information
