The American College of Physicians Foundation hosted its Sixth Annual National Health Communication Conference, Advances in Health Literacy, on November 28, 2007. The conference was co-sponsored by the Institute of Medicine and held at the National Academy of Sciences Building in Washington, DC.

This conference focused on successful models that improve health outcomes. Historically, the ACP Foundation's Health Communication Conferences have attracted a broad range of national, regional, and local organizations that are in a position to help individuals with low health literacy. Attendees represent a wide array of organizations, including academia, medicine, large employers, pharmaceuticals, media, health insurance, patient advocacy, and government.
